Search opportunities, share your CV with our consultants and use our practical guides to prepare for every stage of your search.
CV advice
- 01Keep it to two pages for most roles; senior and academic CVs can be longer if every line earns its place.
- 02Open with a short profile that states who you are, your level and the role you are targeting.
- 03Lead each role with achievements, not duties. Quantify results where you can: budgets, team size, growth, savings.
- 04Use a clean, single-column layout and standard headings so applicant tracking systems can read it.
- 05Tailor the keywords to each application, using the language of the job description honestly.
- 06Save as PDF unless the employer asks for Word, and use a clear file name such as FirstName-LastName-CV.pdf.
Interview preparation
- 01Research the organisation: its services, recent news, competitors and the team you would join.
- 02Prepare five or six examples from your experience using the STAR approach: Situation, Task, Action, Result.
- 03Be ready to explain every move on your CV, including gaps, clearly and briefly.
- 04Prepare thoughtful questions about the role, expectations in the first six months and how success is measured.
- 05For video interviews, test your camera, audio and connection beforehand and choose a quiet, well-lit space.
- 06Follow up with a short thank-you note, and let your consultant know how it went so we can brief the employer.
Career advice
- 01Decide what you want from your next move (scope, sector, location, flexibility) before you start applying.
- 02Keep your LinkedIn profile consistent with your CV; recruiters check both.
- 03Build your network deliberately: former colleagues and managers are often the source of the best opportunities.
- 04Invest in qualifications that the roles you want actually require, rather than collecting certificates.
- 05If you are considering an international move, research visa requirements, cost of living and tax early.
Salary guidance
- 01Compare the whole package: base salary, bonus, pension, healthcare, allowances, leave and flexibility.
- 02Research market rates for your role, level and location, and adjust for cost of living when relocating.
- 03Give a realistic range when asked, based on market data and your current package, rather than a single number.
- 04Let your consultant handle negotiation where possible; we can discuss terms candidly with the employer.
- 05Get the final offer in writing and check notice periods, restrictive covenants and start dates before resigning.
